Samsung's 2009 Blu-ray player lineup officially priced

are already on store shelves for $399.99 and $299.99, respectively, but we figured it prudent to pass along those official numbers straight from the source. Of note, we're also told that the ultrathin When Samsung's 2009 Blu-ray player lineup was outed at CES this year, all pricing and release date information was conveniently omitted. At long last, Sammy has pushed out the details we've been waiting for at its Spring Fever event in New York City. Granted, the BD-P3600 and BD-P1600BD-P4600 will indeed be coming in April for $499.99, and if Best Buy's website is to be believed, it'll be April 19th if we're talking specifics.

Samsung shows off new HT-WS1 soundbar

In addition to that new AS730 HTIB, Samsung's kicking around a new soundbar audio system, which packages a 260W 2.1 setup (capable of virtual 5.1) with a sizable wireless subwoofer for the passable price of $350. The HT-WS1 is fairly diminutive as far as soundbars go, and is wall mountable if you're into that. The bar is styled in Samsung's "Touch of Color" grey and red to match your Samsung TV (you do have a Samsung TV, don't you?), and the whole kit will be available in April.

Samsung's latest LED-packing HDTVs

Finally, we can stop playing hide and seek with Samsung's 2009 lineup of edge lit LED HDTVs, now that its loosed official pricing and availability details for screens hitting shelves between now and June. They've already been busy popping up everywhere -- around the world, in stores near you, on Best Buy's website, and Samsung's made sure to mention how eco friendly the LED scheme is compared to the old power munching CCFLs and local dimming methods in other manufacturer's screens. The list appears to match up with earlier leaks, so if the 8000, 7000 and 6000 series are screens you've just gotta have, click the read link for all details currently available.

Samsung officially intros YP-U5 and YP-Q2 media players

We've already seen Samsung's Q2 and U5 media players out and about, but just today the company has made the pair official here in the US of A. Starting with the YP-Q2 PMP, you'll find both 8GB and 16GB variants with 50 hours of battery life, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, black and white color options, DNSe 3.0 sound enhancement technology, FM radio / recorder, a text viewer and a Smart Button that allows the user to designate a specific function for quick access. The YP-U5, on the other hand, was tailor made for gym rats; said audio stick sports a touchpad, 1-inch OLED display, USB connectivity, up to 20 hours of playback, an FM radio module and 2GB of internal storage. Check 'em this April for $99.99 (8GB Q2), $129.99 (16GB Q2) and $39.99 (U5).

Thecus's N0204 miniNAS is world's smallest

We track a lot of things claiming to be the smallest or thinnest this-or-that, but, when it comes to network-attached storage, we can't say as we've been breaking out our rulers all that often. So, when Thecus says its N0204 miniNAS is the world's smallest, we'll take them for their word. Little bigger than an external 3.5-inch drive enclosure, the N0204 actually sports room for two 2.5-inch drives, serving them up concatenated or in RAID 0 or 1 configurations. Despite its size it still offers the same functionality of many of the bigger boys, including the ability to act as an iTunes or DLNA server, print server, and webcam host. It even allows hot-swapping. Apparently the only thing it can't do is tell you when it'll release or how much it'll cost when it does. For that we'll just have to wait and see.

Olympus E-450 four thirds shooter is a tweaked E-420, still small

Olympus just announced it's "new" E-450 four thirds shooter. Really though, it could have just as easily been announced as the E-420 plus, a tweak to the "world's smallest DSLR" announced last year. Both cams share the same 5.1 x 3.6 x 2.1-inch and 13.4 ounce dimensions, 10 megapixel Live MOS sensor with live view, 3.5fps continuous shooting, 2.7-inch LCD, ISO 1,600 max sensitivity, and four thirds lens mount. So what's new? Well, the E-450 has a newer TruePic III+ image processor, a longer 30-minute exposure, improved flash control, and now several "art filter" modes like "pop" and "soft focus" -- pointless if you're doing any kind of post processing on a computer. Then again, it's only $699 when bundled with the ED 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 and ED 40-150mm f4.0/5.6 Zuiko zoom lenses.

Shuttle's Mini H7 4500H media PC joins Blu-ray, DVB-S tuner in matrimony

Shuttle's back with another mini HTPC, the H7 4500H, only this time you can swap out that DVB-T tuner with a DVB-S for satellite TV. The cost of going for the latter means you have to settle onboard graphics only, but either way you're still getting DVR capabilities and Windows Media Center. Max configuration for the Vista-based machine includes 2.83GHz Intel Core 2 Quad, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285, 1TB SATA HDD, 4GB DDR2 RAM, and a Blu-ray writer. It's also got HDMI, SPDIF, eSATA, FireWire and six USB ports. Starting price is around €775 ($1,020), but if you're planning to get the whole kit and kaboodle, the price jumps to about €1858 ($2,450).

Intel's Xeon 3500, 5500 series officially unveiled for servers and workstations

Intel's announced this week its latest batch of Nehalem-based Xeon processors, the single-socket 3500 and dual-socket 5500 series for servers and workstations. Both models boast speeds up to 3.2 GHz and feature Intel's turbo boost, hyper-threading, and virtualization technologies, as well as integrated power gates. If you've got the newest Mac Pro, however, then you're already using the new quad-core CPUs,, but for everyone else, they're now being sold en masse to manufacturers at a price ranging from $188 to $1,600 for the Xeon 5500 and $284 to $999 for the 3500. We've already heard about 5500 / 3500-equipped Lenovo and Dell workstations, but if that doesn't suit you, Intel promises over 230 systems are in the pipeline from companies such as Cisco, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, among others.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 402 plays PC Card and ExpressCard roles

The Sierra Wireless AirCard 402 is the company's first to offer such 2-in-1 functionality, and it's designed to operate on EV-DO Rev. A networks handling speeds of up to 3.1Mbps (downlink) / 1.8Mbps (uplink). Users can also bank on the company's TRU-Locate GPS service to "quickly and accurately establish location for local searches and navigation." There's no mention of a price or release date, but it should be on hand for us to peer at during CTIA this week.

Canon PowerShot SX200 Review

Photography Blog's just put up a rather exhaustive review of Canon's PowerShot SX200 IS. If you've already forgotten, this little guy boasts a 12 megapixel sensor, a 12x optical zoom, and a 3-inch LCD. Among the standout features of the cam, they like the PASM creative shooting modes, and its versatile 12x zoom lens. Drawbacks for the camera include its video mode, LCD (which is a lower resolution than some rivals), and a Smart Auto Mode that leaves a little to be desired. Overall, they seem to think that the camera stacks up quite well against most of its rivals, though they did find that it feel a bit short of its main competitor, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7.
