LG's new W53 SMART monitor

Just when we thought the desktop monitor market couldn't get any more staid, LG comes along and spices it up a little bit. The new W53 SMART Monitors series includes a few "smart" additions like ambient light detection for Auto Brightness adjustment (like some laptops have), a Cinema Mode for blacking out the rest of the screen when video is playing, a timer to remind you to take breaks (like right now, for instance... you feel yourself getting very sleepy...) and a proximity sensor to activate the monitor controls when your hand approaches the display, and hide them when you're not tweaking anything. Sizes range from 18.5- to 27-inches, and the models 21.5-inch and up do 1920 x 1080p Full HD at 16:9. The displays also offer contrast ratios up to 50,000:1, and 2ms response times.

LG's X120 netbook granted a release date

Despite letting us play with the thing at CES and then giving us all the details of what's going on inside its upcoming white and green netbook, LG still wouldn't commit to just when its X120 would be hitting retail. Not one for protracted pre-order periods, apparently, the company has now confirmed the laptop will be shipping to Japanese users by the end of this very month, and to Europe and 20 other nations within the next one. We're not entirely sure that the US is going to be one of those 20, but since LG has just over a week left before March becomes April, it had better get shipping already.

LG Versa heading to Verizon

If you're the type of individual who can never decide between the Cobb salad, the lobster bisque, and the sesame prawns and end up ordering all three, take note -- your phone has arrived. The long-rumored LG Versa lets you have your cake and eat it too by starting life as a full touchscreen slate, and when the time comes for some serious emailing, texting, or notetaking, you just snap on the included cover that includes a full QWERTY keyboard. The cover also features its own OLED display -- handy, since the Versa's 480 x 240 main display is concealed while the cover's closed -- while the phone itself rocks EV-DO Rev. A with tethering capability, a 2 megapixel cam with face detection and video recording, microSD expansion, and GPS. It'll be available starting March 1 for $249.99 on contract before a $50 mail-in rebate.

LG X110 netbook reviewed: integrated 3G handy, but it’ll cost you

The LG X110 is, under its pleasant casing, basically an MSI Wind. What LG throw into the mix is integrated 3G, and it’s that which singles the netbook out in Register Hardware’s review. The 10-inch X110 has the usual Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive; it’s also available free, if you sign up with one of a number of mobile broadband contracts in the UK.
Other than more connectivity freedom, the X110’s keyboard is praised for not feeling as cheap as it undoubtedly has to be, while the casing is better than MSI’s own efforts despite the shared guts. However the display is a frustration, with webpages looking cramped, and the touchpad is smaller than the space allows.
These mobile broadband deals are all well and good if you lack the upfront money for a new netbook, but don’t be blinded to the fact that, over the course of the contract, you’ll be paying significantly more for your “free” computer. Without the integrated 3G the LG X110 will set you back £299 ($406); with it, even though there’s no upfront cost, you’ll have spent £720 ($977) once your two year agreement is up.

LG DV4S and DV4M are lifestyle DVD players

LG has today announced two stylish and lifestyle DVD players that didn’t get to unveil at CES 2009. Unless I missed it, I don’t remember see any wall-mounted and slim factor media players at CES show floor. One of them supports Dvix HD video playback and the other enables MP3 music direct recording.
The LG DV4S DVD player is an innovative approach lifestyle product. Elegantly designed, the glossy black chassis is sleek and slim with touch sensor buttons, and has an automatic sliding door to cover the flat-mounted optical drive. Technical details are thin; it supports Dvix HD Format media, Full HD upconvert and has USB connectivity. Output consists of four high speed, 10-bit video DACs and capable of 192KHz/24bit audios
The DV4M, on the other hand, is advertised for music lovers. The player can automatically convert MP3 files with a USB direct recording capabilities from connected MP3 media player. The player features 108MHz/14bit Video DAC and 192KHz/24bit Audio DAC. Prices and availability have not yet announced.

LG KS500

We don't have the full details of the new LG KS500 at present, but we can tell you that this is a 3.5G capable slider phone with a 3.0 megapixel camera, multimedia player and 320 x 240 pixel display.
LG KS500

It's a bit of an oddity in our opinion, as the KS500 is very similar in specification to the existing KT520 slider, which also has HSDPA and a slighly better camera. One immediately obvious thing is just how small the screen looks - although we don't have the exact specification of the KS500 we think that this is only a 2" display which we would certainly consider to be undersized.
